Discovery Loan Boxes

Learning and fun, packed into one!

Grades K - 6

Boxes are designed for teachers to enhance their classroom curriculum. Various topics available; all include materials such as puppets, skins and skulls, videos, resource and picture books, games, scientific equipment for experiments, and curriculum guides to help facilitate activity and lesson plans.

Please reserve your box at least two weeks before you wish to check it out. Boxes can be picked up at the zoo 3:00 or later on the designated day or later.


Tropical Rainforest

(Grades K-6)

Expand the exploration of tropical rainforests in your classroom with this rainforest in a box!  Materials include:

Urban Wildlife

(Grades K-3)
This box is designed to help you teach your students that they don't have to look very far to see wildlife; it exists in their own backyard! Distinctive materials include:

  • Puppets
  • Bird identification activities
  • Owl pellet dissecting kit
  • Animal track replicas

Urban Wildlife

(Grades 4-6)
This box is designed to help upper elementary students explore the topic of urban wildlife. Included in the box are:

  • Resource and chapter books
  • Scat replicas
  • Owl pellet dissecting kits
  • Water testing materials


(Grades K-3)
This new box will help you introduce African animals, habitats, ecosystems and cultures to your young learners. Unique materials include:

  • African toys and musical instruments
  • Animal specimens, including an elephant tooth

(Grades 4-6)
This box will help you teach your students about the animals, cultures and geography of the beautiful continent of Africa. This box includes:
