Bequests in your will or living trust are a popular and easy way to leave a legacy and will ensure Denver Zoo remains a vital and vibrant center for wildlife education and conservation for generations to come.
There are several ways you can leave a bequest to Denver Zoo. You can leave a specific asset, a sum of money, a percentage of your estate, or the remainder of your estate after you have provided for other beneficiaries. You also can designate the purpose for your gift to a specific species or program, for example our education or conservation programs. For zoo friends, volunteers and staff the bequest is the most popular legacy gift.
The full value of a bequest to Denver Zoo can be considered a charitable contribution for estate tax purposes. Generally, unless otherwise designated, all bequests support the zoo’s endowment to support future zoo programs and are currently matched dollar for dollar by Zoo Improvement Bond funds, thereby effectively doubling your gift.
You may provide for Denver Zoo by making a new will, modifying your present will (by adding a codicil), or by including the Zoo in your revocable trust. To bequeath money or property to the Zoo, you and your lawyer may find the following language helpful.
The Denver Zoological Foundation, a nonprofit corporation organized under Colorado law with its principal business address of 2300 Steele Street, Denver, CO, 80205.
