OUTREACH SENIOR PROGRAMS

Live animal encounters that provide enriching, enjoyable and educational experiences for the senior community

Who: Up to 30 participants
Length: 45 minutes
Cost: $100 per program. 

Denver Zoo Outreach offers two different Senior Safari programs.  Each Senior Safari is similar in nature, but provides different animal visitors and touchable biofacts (such as skins and bones):

Senior Safari: Backyard Wildlife
Senior Safari: Animals Around the World

  • Engage participants with inquiry and conversation.
  • Learn about animal classification, habitat and special adaptations, as well as relevant conservation messages.
  • Meet up to five live animals and explore biofacts (such as skins and bones), emphasizing touch and interaction.
  • Programs can be geared toward a variety of audiences such as residents of nursing homes, senior centers, assisted-living facilities, and independent living retirement communities

Things To Know:

  • Please register at least three weeks in advance (requested dates are guaranteed upon confirmation by Denver Zoo).
  • When scheduling, please indicate the ability levels of your group, or any special needs, so that we may provide the best experience possible. 
  • Senior Safari room policies
  • Travel fees apply outside of SCFD.
  • Layover fees apply to breaks exceeding 60 minutes between programs.
  • Scholarships are available through Denver Zoo's Red Apple Fund.

  • Cancellation of Programs:
    Classes and programs canceled or rescheduled with less than 2 weeks notice prior to the scheduled program will be charged 50% of the total cost. Red Apple Scholarship awards will not apply to cancellation fees.
OUTREACH BOOTH PROGRAMS

Booths for Fairs, Festivals, and Events.

Where:  At Your Facility
When:   Dates and start times vary, offered year round
Cost:     $125 first hour/$75 each additional consecutive hour.

Things To Know:

  • Please register at least three weeks in advance (requested dates are guaranteed upon confirmation by Denver Zoo).
  • Booth with Animals room policies
  • Booth without Animals room policies
  • Travel fees apply outside of SCFD.

  • No live animals
  • 3 hour maximum
  • These free programs are limited in times and availability. Please call for registration information.

OUTREACH ADULT PROGRAMS

Providing a wildlife education resource to adults & sharing the mission of the Denver Zoo with the community

Where: At Your Facility
Who:  Up to 60 participants
Time: 45-60 minutes
Cost: FREE within SCFD
Other: This program does NOT include live animals

Discover various Denver Zoo staff roles and responsibilities; including zoo keeping, animal training, field research, laboratory study, nutrition and education.

Take an endearing look at some of the newest members of the zoo family and share in some unique success stories.

Learn how Denver Zoo is doing its part internationally to conserve diversity within the environment.
