Science Programs for Teens


Weekend Science Workshop Series
Delve into animal and environmental science topics through guided tours, hands-on investigations, live animal demonstrations, and expert speakers.  Teens will be challenged to explore a variety of life science subjects in our science gone wild workshops!

Who:    Teens ages 13-16
When:  See below for topics and dates
Time:   10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Cost:    Member: $45 per workshop.
            Non-member: $50 per workshop.   
Scholarships are available through Denver Zoo's Red Apple Fund.

Investigate  how animal adaptations come to be and explore how specializations allow animal  communities to thrive as they adapt to an ever-changing environment. Think like a keeper in order to meet the challenge of caring for our diverse population of animals.

Animal Behavior 101
Why do crickets chirp? How do lions hunt as a group?  Where do ravens learn to use tools?  Spend the day exploring animal behavior: the how and why animals do what they do and conduct your own behavior experiment!   Apply your knowledge to the test of exhibit design - ensuring that every zoo habitat encourages the WILD behavior of its residents!
