Veterans Tours

This program was initiated by a Denver Zoo Docent Volunteer, a World War II Veteran himself, to honor and support a new generation of veterans and their families. These free, 90-minute, guided tours are designed to engage families of veterans in a fun-filled day together exploring Denver Zoo. Tours are free with paid admission at a discounted rate of $6.00 per person (Veterans are free) to the zoo and require pre-registration.

Who: Armed Services Veterans and their immediate families. Veteran identification required. Maximum of 10 people per tour.

When: Tours begin at 10:30 am and end by noon

Dates: Varies. Call for availability. Dependent upon volunteer availability.

Registration required: Call 720-337-1494 and provide the following information (4 days notice required):

  • Contact name
  • Contact number
  • Preferred date of visit
  • Number in immediate family
  • Ages of children participating

Fees: Free for Armed Services Veterans (with valid ID); discounted rate of $6.00 for additional family members.  (Red Apple Scholarships available). Prepayment required.  In the event that we cannot secure a volunteer to guide the tour, the discounted rate will be honored. There are no refunds on the day of the tour for missing party members.  Please call at least one day in advance if someone in your party is unable to attend.

Where to go: Please arrive at Denver Zoo at least 30 minutes prior to the tour start time to ensure time to locate parking in our free parking garage or surface lots. Please check in for your tour inside the Guest Relations Building on the right side of the entrance plaza at 2300 Steele Street off 23rd Avenue. Your tour guide will meet you inside the building after you have checked in.
