Outreach Senior Safari

We Bring the Zoo to You!


Denver Zoo reaches beyond its boundaries and into the community with dynamic, interactive experiences featuring live animals. A variety of programs are available for all ages that celebrate the wonder and awe of animals and inspire individuals to respect, value and care for the natural world.

Live touchable animals, incredible bio-facts and dynamic presenters create one-of-a-kind experiences for the senior community.

$135/first class, $85 for each additional consecutive class.

Things To Know

  • Please register at least three weeks in advance (requested dates are guaranteed upon confirmation by Denver Zoo).
  • When scheduling, please indicate the ability levels of your group, or any special needs, so that we may provide the best experience possible.
  • Senior Safari room policies
  • Travel fees apply outside of SCFD.
  • Layover fees apply to breaks exceeding 60 minutes between programs.
  • Scholarships are available through Denver Zoo's Scholarship Fund.

Cancellation of Programs

Classes and programs canceled or rescheduled with less than 2 weeks' notice prior to the scheduled program will be charged 50% of the total cost.Denver Zoo's Scholarship Fund awards will not apply to cancellation fees.


Denver Zoo Outreach offers the following two Senior Safari programs:

Senior Safari: Backyard Wildlife

Senior Safari: Animals Around the World

  • Each Senior Safari is similar in nature, but provides different animal visitors and touchable biofacts (such as skins and bones).
  • Engage participants with inquiry and conversation.
  • Learn about animal classification, habitat and special adaptations, as well as relevant conservation messages.
  • Meet up to five live animals and explore biofacts (such as skins and bones), emphasizing touch and interaction.
  • Programs can be geared toward a variety of audiences such as residents of nursing homes, senior centers, assisted-living facilities, and independent living retirement communities
