Schoelzel Family Village
An Schoelzel Family Village will serve as the exhibit hub, providing you with opportunities to see the diverse array of Asian animals in Toyota Elephant Passage. While in the Schoelzel Family Village, you will be able to visit the Clayton F. Freiheit Elephant House and the El Pomar Pavilion. You won’t be able to miss the massive Clayton F. Freiheit Elephant House that will be home to eight to twelve elephants. The elephant house will provide the perfect spot to view elephants if it's chilly outside or to learn more about how we care for elephants from one of our keepers. The El Pomar Asian Pavilion will house indoor displays of flying fox, Asian small clawed otter and fishing cats. Just outside of the El Pomar Asian Pavilion, you can stroll through Schoelzel Plaza which will be decorated with prayer flags and filled with seasonal carts to make you feel like you’ve walked into a contemporary Asian market. Zoo docents will lead you through educational activities at each cart station.
