CAREER DISCOVERY DAY!

For teens in MIDDLE SCHOOL

CHECK BACK IN FALL 2018!

From keepers to trainers, veterinarians and exhibit designers, a wide variety of possible zoo and animal careers will be explored during Career Discovery Day. Participants hear from zoo professionals during scheduled demonstrations, participate in special behind the scenes tours and visit a career fair filled with activities, information and time to ask questions about what it takes to work on the wild-side.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

REGISTRATION REQUIRED*

Entry to the scheduled demonstrations, tours, and career fair are limited to registered Career Discovery Day participants and their one chaperone only.  Participants will receive an agenda and have the opportunity to sign up for tours when they arrive for the program.

COST

$100 - Cost includes zoo admission, 2 behind the scenes experiences, a career fair, lunch, and giveaway items for one participant and one required adult chaperone; please note that participants will not be admitted without an adult chaperone and chaperones must remain with participants throughout the duration of the event.

Scholarships are available through Denver Zoo's Scholarship Fund (link below). Individual Program scholarship applications must be received 2 weeks prior to the event.

 

CAREER LAB!

For teens in HIGH SCHOOL

CHECK BACK FEBRUARY 2018!

During this engaging program we will dive in and explore all aspects of animal care and will learn that it really does take a committed team of staff to make this happen.  Participants will practice hands on learning through enrichment creation (creating an item that enhances an animal’s environment to encourage its natural behaviors), special behind the scenes tours, and an overview of the many different careers in zoo animal care and how to get there.

Entry to the behind the scenes tours and other experiences are limited to registered Career Lab participants only.  Participants will receive an agenda and have the opportunity to sign up for tours when they arrive for the program.

COST

$60 (this cost is underwritten by a generous anonymous donor). Cost includes zoo admission, 2 behind the scenes experiences, 1 animal encounter, lunch, and giveaway items for one participant.
