Rhino Encounter

Meet one of our tough-but-sensitive two-ton tanks

Chewing with one’s mouth open: annoying at family dinners, but surprisingly adorable when a rhino does it! In this intimate experience for up to six members of your personal pod, you’ll meet one of our amazing greater one-horned rhinoceros crew—including Bandhu, Tensing or Joona! Our keepers will choose which of these amazing individuals you get to meet, and what your interaction might look like, but as you learn what it takes to care for these powerful pachyderms, you may get to watch a feeding and even give somebody a robust booty scratch.

Due to animal care needs, we cannot guarantee which individual you will meet ahead of time.

Encounter Size Limit
This exclusive encounter is limited to just six people per encounter. If you have fewer than six in your party, you may be joined by other registrants, not to exceed six persons total.

Restrictions

Close-toed shoes are strongly recommended for this program.
Program is for up to 6 total individuals.
All program participants must be at least 12 years of age or older.
Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a paid participant that is 16 years of age or older.
This experience is not recommended for people with severe allergies to hay.
Program fee does not include admission to Denver Zoo—admission tickets must be purchased separately. You must have general admission tickets for the date of your experience.
This experience is non-refundable and nontransferable.
Denver Zoo reserves the right to re-route or cancel any tour due to animal health or safety concerns. In the event of cancellation, efforts will be made to reschedule you on a later date.
This Up-Close Look will occur rain or shine.
Plan to check in at the zoo at least 60 minutes before the start of your encounter. Late arrivals cannot be accommodated.
There is limited access for service animals during this experience. Please call 720-337-1400 to confirm.
