Volunteer Information

Nutrition Center Assistants help with the day to day routine of the Nutrition Center such as cleaning, dish-washing, diet prep, browse, deliveries (both to the Nutrition Center and to the rest of the zoo), gel prep as well as maintaining the cleanliness and inventory of the Nutrition Center. While Nutrition Center Assistants will be helping with diet prep and deliveries throughout the zoo there is not direct animal contact, handling or training for this position.

Nutrition Center Assistants must maintain an active volunteer status, provide a negative TB test result and will need to be able to consistently lift between 25 to 50 lbs. Regular shifts are from 7:00 am to 11:00 am and 11:00 am to 2:30 pm with a 2 shift per month requirement.

*Please note: Applications to the Denver Zoo Volunteer Program exceed the number of available positions in each training class. The selection of new volunteers is based on matching applicants with current zoo needs.
