Charlie Wright of Denver Zoo Appointed to IMA Global Board of Directors

IMA® (Institute of Management Accountants), one of the largest and most respected associations focused exclusively on advancing the management accounting profession, is pleased to announce that Charlie Wright, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at the Denver Zoo, has been appointed to serve as a member of the IMA Global Board of Directors for a two-year term through June 30, 2021.

Comprised of more than 50 volunteer members from IMA’s general membership, the IMA Global Board of Directors oversees the activities of IMA’s strategy, chapters, and volunteer committees. As part of his responsibilities as a Board member, Mr. Wright will also participate as a member of IMA’s Governance  Board Committee.

Charlie will support the development of IMA’s programs and strategic planning, while promoting the CMA® (Certified Management Accountant) program. I congratulate him for accepting this important volunteer leadership position and offering his time and expertise.”

As Treasurer and CFO of the Denver Zoo, Wright is responsible for all internal and external financial reporting and all treasury/investment, information technology and risk management activities. He was previously the Senior VP, Finance & Administration for two years at Mile High United Way. His prior background includes more than 14 years as a Partner with Ernst & Young. Wright also spent more than 10 years as a “C”-level executive with a prominent private sports and entertainment company.

Wright joined IMA in 1979 and become a CMA in 1981. He was a member of the Board of Directors and Chairman of the Audit Committee for public company CGSI and has experience on several not-for-profit boards, including serving 10 years on the Mile High United Way Board of Trustees. Wright served six years on the United Soccer Coaches (formerly NSCAA) Board as Chairman of the Finance & Audit Committee. He served on the Major League Soccer and on the Soccer United Marketing Boards of Governors for three years, including the Finance, Audit and Labor Committees for these organizations. Wright also served on the National Lacrosse League Board of Governors, where he served a four-year term as Chairman of the Finance Committee and a one-year term as Chairman of the Executive Committee. He is also currently the President of the Denver Pops Orchestra.
