Cryptid Characters Spotted at the Zoo
You never know what you’ll see lurking about when it’s a Wild Fall at DZCA. Stay vigilant and don’t let your eyes deceive you! You might just catch a glimpse of some of our most elusive and mysterious cryptids…

BIGFOOT
Sighted: Sheep Mountain
Seven feet tall and completely covered in shaggy fur, this ape-like creature prefers the solitude of mountain forests—but is rumored to be quite friendly!

MERMAID
Sighted: Near the Giraffes
Unlike the sirens, who lured sailors to their deaths, this friendly mermaid is standing by to educate our human guests about her mysterious and misunderstood people.

FAIRY
Sighted: Carousel Meadows
A lover of all things autumn and Halloween, this ethereal creature travels between realms, spreading magic wherever she goes.

FAQs
- What are the dates and times for Wild Fall?
Fall at DZCA (Wild Fall) runs throughout the Zoo’s daytime operational hours, September 26—October 31. This “falloween” experience is spread over the Zoo’s 80-acre campus, with multiple moments of mystical surprise and delight to enjoy…and lots of amazing animals to discover.
- Will Wild Fall offer trick-or-treating and candy?
No, our daytime Wild Fall experience, which takes place during regular Zoo hours, does NOT offer trick-or-treating and candy. For a trick-or-treating experience, join us for our separately ticketed evening event, Boo at the Zoo! Click here for details.
- Can my family still wear costumes at Wild Fall and Boo at the Zoo?
Absolutely! We love costumes—especially animal costumes. But since both Wild Fall and Boo at the Zoo are all-ages events, please refrain from wearing a mask that covers your eyes, and kindly stay away from outfits that are scary or gory. Eerie, spooky, creepy, mysterious and WILD are all fine!
- Will Wild Fall be scary for my little ones?
Nope! While there will be some characters in costume, none of them will be frightening—and our creatures won’t ever sneak up on you. If you prefer to avoid somebody like Bigfoot, for example, simply check the schedule of events to find out where and when he might be lurking around.
- How does the Fall Attractions Pass work?
When you purchase a pass, you will receive a QR code. At each attraction, present your QR code to a staff member as entry to the experience. For the Denver Zoo Railroad, Conservation Carousel, and Stingray Cove, rides and admission are unlimited. You will need to present the QR code to staff at these attractions each time you’d like to ride or enter. For Gorilla Trek VR, Lorikeet Adventure nectar, and Stingray Cove food, you will receive one entry or feeding per pass.
- When is the Fall Attractions Pass available?
The Fall Attractions pass is only available for daytime visits from September 26th through October 31st as part of our fall season.
- Can I use the Fall Attractions Pass during Boo at the Zoo or Monster Masquerade?
No, the Fall Attractions Pass is available for use during daytime visits, since not all included attractions are open during our evening events.
- How many people are covered by the Fall Attractions Pass?
Each pass only covers one person, so each member of your group will need their own pass to participate in all attractions.
- How much is the Fall Attractions Pass?
The pass is $19.95 per person. This is the price for adults and children ages 3-15. Members receive a discount and pay $14.95 per person.
- Do I need a pass if my child is under the age of 3?
The Fall Attractions Pass isn’t recommended for children under the age of 3, since they can’t participate in the Gorilla Trek VR experience and can ride the Denver Zoo Railroad for free.
- Where do I purchase a pass?
Passes can be purchased at the time of your ticket purchase or by clicking here. You can also purchase a pass at the Boettcher Welcome Center when you’re onsite.
- Is Zoo admission included?

- What if I don't visit all attractions?

- Are all experiences included in the Fall Attractions Pass guaranteed to be open?
