Snakes get a bad rap, but at DZCA, they get world-class care. 🐍

In Tropical Discovery, our Animal Care team cares for nearly 40 different species of snake, using strict safety protocols and specialized training for the venomous individuals to keep both people and animals safe. Their care includes naturalistic habitats, proper temperature and light cycles, enrichment that mimics life in the wild, and close collaboration with our Veterinary Medicine team when medical care is needed.

Here at the Zoo, you can safely get up close and appreciate how fascinating and important snakes are to healthy ecosystems.

We even help beyond our walls by participating in a national antivenom network, supporting emergency care when rare snakebites occur across the country.
