Learn

As a leader in conservation education, we understand that experiencing AWE is often the first step in becoming an ally! From Nature Play and Safari Camps to school field trips and Zoo-to-You classroom visits, we cultivate wonder on a daily basis.

☀️ If you’ve spent time in Down Under, chances are you’ve spotted Marshmallow—our stunning albino wallaby whose snowy white fur and soft pink features make her stand out in any crowd.

Albinism is a rare genetic condition that leaves animals without melanin, the pigment that provides color and protection from UV rays. That means Marshmallow requires a bit of extra TLC to stay safe and healthy in her sunny outdoor habitat.

Thanks to a strong bond with her animal care team, Marshmallow gets daily sunscreen applications on her ears, face, and tail. But the best part? She’s learned to sunscreen herself! 🧴Her Animal Care Specialists place a sponge soaked with sunscreen inside a bowl of tasty treats, so every time she dips her head in for a bite, she gets a perfect dab of protection on her nose.

All our kangaroos and wallabies have access to shade, misting systems, and cool pools, but Marshmallow’s daily skincare routine is a perfect example of the care and creativity that goes into helping every animal at DZCA thrive. 💛

You can help support sun care for Marshmallow! Donate any amount now: Check the link in bio.

Denver Zoo Conservation Alliance has always been a place of connection—between our community, animals, and the wild world we share. Now, we have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to strengthen that bond through Latin America, our most ambitious and community-driven project in decades.

This $50 million project has been submitted for consideration as part of the Vibrant Denver Bond, a public investment that will not raise taxes. Tonight—Monday, July 28—is our final opportunity to convince Denver City Council to secure this essential funding.

We’ve already invested $30 million to restore critical infrastructure, but several City-owned areas of our campus remain closed and in urgent need of upgrades. Latin America would help us reopen and reimagine these spaces for the next generation—creating immersive experiences for families, celebrating the most biodiverse region on Earth, and generating the revenue we need to sustain our mission.

Journalist Kevin Beaty from @dnvrite recently sat down with DZCA President and CEO Bert Vescolani to learn more. Link in bio.
