Earlier this year, Dr. Jimmy Johnson and Brian Aucone traveled to Leuser, Indonesia, to visit our partners at @ForumKonservasiLeuser. Together, we’re working to protect one of the last remaining intact rainforests on Earth, a sanctuary for Sumatran orangutans, tigers, elephants, rhinos, and countless other species. 🌿🦧🐅
Our partners recently completed the construction of a new research station, a vital base for studying and safeguarding this incredibly biodiverse ecosystem. They also shared new camera trap footage from a nearby salt deposit, and we’re excited to show you a glimpse of life inside the Leuser rainforest. ✨
In honor of World Rainforest Week, this footage is a powerful reminder of why global conservation partnerships matter. By working together, we can protect irreplaceable habitats and help save wildlife for generations to come. 🌍

Meet Stephanie Hinkle, one of our most experienced and dedicated Registered Veterinary Technicians! With 27 years as an RVT and almost 24 years at Denver Zoo Conservation Alliance, Stephanie has devoted her career to advancing animal healthcare and inspiring the next generation of zoo veterinary professionals.

🌟 Proudest Case:
“My proudest moment this year was being able to get a voluntary blood sample from Gunther the gorilla. I have been working with the animal care specialist on the behavior for over a year and was finally able to get a sample for his annual blood chemistry and complete blood count. I was then able to bring this experience to the annual Association of Zoological Veterinary Technician conference that DZCA hosted at the end of September of this year.” 🦍💉

🌿 Fall Into Nature – November 24
Campers will dig into the natural world, use all their senses to explore, and build deeper connections to animals and nature.
❄️ Weathering the Wild – November 25
From cozy rocks to shady spots, campers will discover how animals adapt to seasonal changes, and find inspiration for helping wildlife in their own backyards!
Both camps feature animal encounters, zoo expeditions, and plenty of outdoor adventure, so bundle up and join us!

For four years, Danielle Coffman has been a vital part of the Denver Zoo Conservation Alliance veterinary team, bringing over 11 years of experience as a Registered Veterinary Technician and an endless passion for animal care. 🐾

“It`s impossible to choose only one! My two favorite gals are Winnie the southern tamandua, and Tavi the spotted hyena. But I’d like to make a special shout out to Nick the sea lion. He passed away a few months ago, but he will forever be one of my favorite animals I’ve ever worked with. Miss you big guy ❤️”
🌟 Proudest Case:
“I love getting to work with the Animal Care Specialists to do behavioral medical training with our animals. I was able to do voluntary blood draws on Jasiri the reticulated giraffe and Puddle the cape buffalo.” 🩸🦒🐃

“Being a part of our veterinary team. We have so much fun together and I love being surrounded by compassionate and brilliant people.”
🌟 Fun Fact:
“I have always wanted to learn to juggle. Dan, one of our veterinarians, has been coaching me for months in our offices. I`m hoping next year I can write that my fun fact is that I juggle around the hospital!”
