Meet the Titicaca water frog, an incredible amphibian adapted to life in high-altitude lakes in Peru. These unique frogs play an important role in their ecosystem but have faced serious threats, including poaching and habitat loss.
Through our Latin America field conservation programs, Denver Zoo Conservation Alliance partners with local communities in Peru to monitor populations, protect habitats, and support the long-term survival of these remarkable frogs.

Everybody say hi to Gertrude! 🐾
She’s the newest member of our yellow-backed duiker family and recently celebrated her first birthday on March 17! 🎉
Gertrude arrived back in November and is still getting comfortable in her new home at DZCA. She’s a bit more timid than our other duikers, keeping an eye on Cameroon and Sekele.
Gertrude joined us on a breeding recommendation with Cameroon, and in the future, she may share the yard across from Kamala Cafe. For now, she’ll continue settling in behind the scenes as she adjusts to her new surroundings. Stay tuned for updates!

#ICYMI: Guion, our male African lion cub, was named after the son of longtime DZCA supporter and board member Rebecca Wilson Macsovits. She`s also the author of "Guion the Lion," a heartwarming story about strength, confidence and the importance of seeing the world from different perspectives.
