Communication is just as important for Denver Zoo’s smallest residents as it is for our largest! Campers explore exactly what animals can tell each other (and us!). How do sights, scents, and sounds call attention to predators or their prey? And how can animals use this to avoid becoming lunch?

AM: How do mammals communicate? PM: How can you tell when a mammal is happy?
Primate Panorama. How are the animals “talking” to each other? Are the animals using anything to communicate? Can they communicate with humans?
What animal(s) did we meet in our classroom? How was each animal that we met different? Could they communicate if they were happy to us?
Campers design something that makes a Guinea Pig happy. What might they like?
What areas of the zoo did we explore in the afternoon? How did this help us better understand/apply the Question of the Day?
Are there any animals at our house that are “talking” to us or each other? Can we tell if they are happy?

Large cats and Toyota Elephant Passage. What similarities and differences did you notice between animals?

Campers design something that lets nocturnal prey hide from an owl or that lets diurnal prey hide from a cheetah.

Are there any nocturnal or diurnal animals in our house or neighborhood? How do they hunt for their food or hide from their predators?
